Breakthrough bleeding and no period?

my friend missed a pill and had breakthrough bleeding, now she doesnt have a period. is this normal or is she pregnant? no this friend is not me, i already know im pregnant and thats why I didnt get MY period but is this normal? anyone go through that? or is she pregnant too?!?
