Are christians ready for antichrist?

I understand Mathew 24 and 2nd thessalonians to say that before Jesus returns there must first come world wide rebellion against God and universal persecution against christians with the coming of antichrist who is the prince of all those who hate christ and hate christians-are christians ready for this?
