How can you change a .mov to something different?

I have a digital camera that takes movies in the quicktime format and I hate quicktime. So, anyway, all the files end with this .mov and I want to change it to something like .wma anything other than .mov does anyone know how to do this without screwing up the file? Or maybe I should just take quicktme off my computer? HELP!
